Condolences
Just found this obituary and video. Jack would have mentioned his boyhood with the Hopper family here in Deal, England. This was my mother's side of the family. He visited our house here in Reading, England probably around 1995 and we had a barbecue outside. He was visiting my mother and father (Pat and Peggy (ne Hopper) near Portsmouth. We had no Christmas card for a couple of years and feared the worst. Please accept our condolences and let's all hope we live such a full and long life.

Words cannot express how much Mr. Hider will be missed. He was a great neighbour, great boss and super person all around. This world will not be the same without him.
Thinking of the Hider family at this sad time.
We were so sorry to hear of the passing of Uncle Jack.
Even though Uncle Jack lived so far away he felt much nearer. He would always make the effort to keep in touch with us in the UK writing us long letters keeping us up to date with everyone’s activities. He was always interested to hear our news too.
I have lots of fond memories of visits to Brantford - particularly we were privileged to be part of the celebrations for your Dad's 80th birthday.
We will be thinking of you all tomorrow. Hope the day goes smoothly tomorrow. Uncle Jack will always have a special place in our hearts.

To Ronald, John, David, Brian and Ann - may your sorrow be tempered by fond and happy memories of your Dad. I remember well the times we all spent together when we were kids - Uncle John, Auntie Christine, our parents and all of us jumbled together. Sad that your Dad's passing is the last of that generation - but grateful for our time together and that your Dad lived life well and to its fullest. Thinking of you.
Dear Hiders / family in Canada
We were so sorry to hear of the loss of 'Uncle Jack'. A truly special man.
We have such fond memories of his various trips to the UK and indeed our trips to Canada. He always put time aside to make our trip special, making sure we saw what we wanted and of course regular opportunities for fish and chips and a cup of tea on tap!
He will fondly remain in our memories forever.
We hope you have a lovely day celebrating his life this Saturday and our thoughts will be with you.
Lots of love
Helen, John, Eva and Lyla xx
My Mom (Mary Schmidt) and I would like to say how sorry we both are to hear of John's passing. Your father was a lovely man who always greeted us both at Church, St. Stephen's and Grace Anglican with a warm smile and a great big hug. We are both very lucky to have known a great man like your Dad. Our deepest condolences go out to the entire Hider family.

My condolences to the Hider family. One could always count on John for a big smile and friendly word! He and your Mom were always very kind to my mother, Anne McPherson. I remember John bringing Mom marmalade and rhubarb! My thoughts and prayers are with you! Margaret (McPherson) Dignard
