Obituary of Robert John Livingstone

At peace, Robert John Livingstone died at the Brantford General Hospital on March 23rd, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Helen and together they had sixty-two wonderful years together. Predeceased by his brother George Robinson and sister Carolyn Newrick. Survived by his sisters Edythe Harris and Audrey Lewis and brother Richard Livingstone. Bob enjoyed gardening and stamp collecting and was past President of the Brantford Garden Club and the Brantford Stamp Club. He also volunteered at the Westfield Heritage Village in Rockton, Ontario as a Building Interpreter in the train station where he demonstrated how the telegraph worked. Bob worked at several railroads over his service from 1963-1993. He started as an Operator/Checker in Brantford for the T.H.andB. Railway and then went to work at the C.N.R. briefly and soon returned to the T.H.andB. when work became available again. He was then moved to Hamilton to work as an Operator/Telegrapher and near the end of his career became an Operator/Dispatcher around the time they became the Canadian Pacific Railway. Despite the daily commute and shifts, he loved his time working for the railroad as he loved all railroads and reminiscing with the people who worked for them. A thank you to his Doctors - Dr. Syeda Arabi, Dr. Damien Medina, family doctor Dr. Donna Allen and to the nurses and staff at the Critical Care Unit at the B.G.H. A special thanks to helpful and concerned neighbors, Eric and Brenda Moyer and Shirley Hunt and to good friends, Ken and Linda Haber. In mentioning Bob's love of all his pets over the years, it is suggested that in lieu of flowers or cards, a donation to the OVC Pet Trust at the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph, 50 Stone Road East, Guelph, Ontario be made.
