Obituary of Cathy Wright

Wright, Cathy - Passed away peacefully at Tranquility Place on Friday, February 23rd, 2024, in her 93rd year surrounded by family and friends. Cathy hailed from Darwen, Lancashire where she met and married her husband of 52 years John (2/23/2006). John was an army veteran and career police officer while Cathy was a stay-at-home mum; until the family emigrated to Brantford in 1969. Cathy embraced her new hometown and with her two children in school she went to work at Shoprite, then Morse Jewelers in the Woolco mall, and in her later years volunteered at St. Joes and ARC Industries. Cathy never had a driver's license or credit card and was a very independent lady. Walking was her primary mode of transportation. She lived by herself in a condo on Grey Steet for 16 years and made many friends in the area while playing euchre, working in her garden and chatting with neighbors. Loving mother of John (Monica) and Julie (Sam). Cherished Nana of Jason (Alexandra), Sean (Pamela), Scott (Salima), Kyle (Claire), Ryan (Sylvia) and Mandy (Brian). Great Nana of Chase, David, Serena, Katie, Soraiya, Vanessa, Zack, Mitchell, Brody and Max. Predeceased by her brother Ron (2015). She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by many other relatives and friends. A special thank you to Rose Aubrey, R.N., the very supportive VON Palliative Care Team who visited daily, and the compassionate and caring staff at Tranquility Place for their wonderful loving care of Mum. Sincere thanks to Dr. B. Jones and Dr. A. East for their kindness and professionalism when Mum passed. At the family's request, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hill and Robinson Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 30 Nelson Street, 519-752-2543.
